Each hypnotherapy session is personalised to your needs, and I can offer a gentle, safe, and confidential space to explore sensitive issues. Changes can be nurtured even when working content-free, which means you can share as little or as much about your story as you feel comfortable with.
If you have previously worked with a hypnotherapist online or in person, you will probably find my approach quite different. I offer a free online hypnotherapy consultation so that we have the opportunity to explore if we are a good fit.

What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis (different states of awareness) for a therapeutic purpose. It is a way to create a state of inward focus, relaxed concentration, and access deeper levels of the mind. When these states of consciousness (similar to daydreaming or meditation) are used with a specific intention, it becomes possible to make positive changes in your life. I work in a client-centred way and view my role as an inner-world guide, helping you to access your own inner wisdom and discover a path of transformation that is right for you.
How does hypnotherapy work?
By creating access to deeper levels of the mind, it is possible to create fertile ground for change and plant seeds for transformation. When you are in a hypnotic state you are more open to new possibilities because the conscious mind (or inner critic) is not creating barriers or blocks. The skilful use of different hypnotic inductions, deepeners, and guided imagery by a qualified hypnotherapist can support your conscious desire for change. While hypnotherapy is an incredible process that can create significant shifts, the best outcomes occur for those who support this inner work by making positive changes in everyday life. In our sessions together, we will also explore opportunities for practical changes that work synergistically with hypnosis and nurture progress.
What will I experience in a hypnotherapy session?
Every session is different and tailored to each client and their needs. An initial hypnotherapy session with me will typically involve a chat about your specific circumstances, followed by a hypnotic induction that will take you into a relaxed state, and then a guided exercise that is tailored to your desired outcome. People experience hypnosis in different ways. You might feel like you are a little more relaxed than usual or you might be in a very deep state of relaxation. You may be aware of the external environment, or you might drift into a daydreamy state. Some people see colours or shapes in their mind’s eye, experience rapid eye movement (REM) like in a sleeping state, or have an altered sense of time. Following hypnotherapy, most people feel refreshed, relaxed, and ‘lighter’ or more confident and positive. Your experience of hypnosis will be unique to you, and the specific circumstances of the hypnotherapy session.
Will I definitely see results from hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy can be a powerful tool for change and its effectiveness for many issues is backed up by scientific evidence. As with all therapies, results in hypnotherapy can vary from person to person and results cannot be guaranteed. Commitment, motivation, and readiness for change are significant factors that can support our work together. Being prepared to continue the work we do between sessions (such as by doing suggested exercises) can also nurture positive change and progress by building on momentum.
How should I prepare for an online hypnotherapy session?
During our time together, you will need to be in a quiet, comfortable space. To ensure best outcome from an online hypnotherapy session, it is essential that you have a private place where you won’t be interrupted so it is a good idea to have any devices switched off, and any pets in another room (sorry, Fido!). You will need a stable internet connection and a comfortable chair. It is best if you use a desktop or laptop - an ipad or other tablet with reasonable sized screen is ok, but a smartphone is not suitable.
What if we lose our internet connection?
Occasionally, internet connectivity issues might cause a disruption or loss of access to the online video platform. In this case, you can simply rejoin using the link provided. As part of the intake process, I’ll ask you for a contact telephone number so I can contact you in another way, if necessary. If we lose connection because of a technical issue at my end, and can’t complete the session, I’ll offer you a complimentary session. Please be assured that you cannot get stuck in a hypnotic trance. The most likely outcome is that you will be aware on some level that the process has stopped and you will feel yourself becoming more alert - even when you are in a deep hypnotic state parts of your mind remain observant. In the unlikely event that you fall asleep, you will simply wake up and feel very refreshed!
Can I reschedule our session?
Sometimes things come up and that’s ok. You can reschedule a session up to 24 hours in advance of our time together.
